Vaca 35 theater group begins tour in South America
February 03, 2018The independent theater company Vaca 35, currently supported by the program Mexico en Escena from the Fonca, celebrates its 11-year history with a tour around Argentina, Uruguay and Peru.
As a guest, it participates with the stagings The only thing that a great actress needs, is a great play and the desire to succeed and No one can take that memory away from you anymore in the 6th edition of the High Season Festival (TABA, for its acronym in Spanish) that takes place until February 11 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and that for the first time extends to the cities of Montevideo, Uruguay and Lima, Peru.
TABA is one of the most representative performing arts festivals in Spain and, for the last six years it has also been held in Argentina through the company Timbre 4.
The Mexican company, formed by Diana Magallón, Mari Carmen Ruiz, José Flores and Damián Cervantes will offer a total of 14 performances, seven from each play. In addition, the director of the company Damián Cervantes will give a workshop on work processes, collective creation and theater.
Concerning the importance of making a tour, Damián said that an important part of the growth, development, consolidation and freedom that they have had as a group, has been supported by the Fonca. “With the program Mexico en Escena, a group has the freedom to really create and concentrate on making important tours where spaces are opened for Mexican theater, workshops are promoted and the greatest number of performances are presented”.
The stagings that are presented are reference plays in the repertoire of Vaca 35 theater group, which has toured several festivals. It has to do with the feeling of loneliness, violence and dispossession, while No one can take that memory away from you anymore comes from the play Three Sisters of Chekhov and is a deep inquiry into the boredom surrounding frustrated relationships of everyday life.
In addition to Vaca 35 theater group, other companies from Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and France will be performing. The program includes conversation tables, workshops, discussion groups, special activities, and a transatlantic drama tournament.
