The Department of Culture receives the Digital Communication award
December 14, 2017The Department of Culture of the Government of the Republic was awarded on Wednesday, December 13, in the presentation of the gob.mx Awards, of the Department of Public Service and the Coordination of National Digital Strategy. The award was given to the General Direction of Social Communication of the department, in the Digital Communication category for its management of social networks and most collaborative link.
Alejandra Lagunes Soto Ruiz, coordinator of National Digital Strategy, said that this year the digital opening of the Government of the Republic is at 94% of its compliance and said that thanks to public institutions that have modernized its standards, we are making history in our country in the digital field.
She celebrated the achievements of the Department of Culture regarding the communication that has opened with the public through social networks and its different links, which set an example for other public agencies to follow.
"Previously there was no communication between the several departments or a plan to follow, no one understood what open data or citizen digital participation was and the inter operation that has allowed a saving of $16 billion pesos”.
She said that thanks to the digitalization, the speeding up of procedures and services in government instances has been achieved, which currently places Mexico as a worldwide leader in the use of open data, which allows citizens have to go less and less to the physical windows.
Alejandra Lagunes added that there have been changes to the regulations so that many procedures are digital and that users can facilitate their lives with an open, efficient and horizontal government that evolves with new technologies.
Eber Betanzos Torres, Undersecretary of the Public Service, said that these awards seek to recognize the innovation and work being developed to bring citizens closer to the various government agencies and allow an innovation in the way they access the various programs and services.
During the ceremony, the Mexican Institute of Social Security received the award in the Digital Communication category; the departments of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food; Treasury and Public Credit and Public Education also received the award in the category of Outstanding Application of the New Digital Communication Model.
