The Talento Emergente 3rd edition is announced at the Cineteca Nacional

Talento Emergente (Emerging talent), a space that promotes debut movies produced worldwide, reaches its third edition in the Cineteca Nacional from September 22nd to October 9th with 14 movies from Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Greece, among other countries.

In a press conference, Nelson Carro pointed out that the event includes first and second works by directors representing "the filmmakers of the future" and are outstanding for its quality, regardless of subject matter, styles or film forms.

Accompanied by filmmakers Francisco Joaquín Paparella, Max Zunino and actress Sofia Espinosa, the director of Diffusion and Programming of the Cineteca Nacional explained that last year the attendance of 16,000 spectators was recorded and is expected to increase the figure because it is intended to reach 15 locations throughout the country. 

The series will begin with the movie Zanjas, an Argentine-Mexico co-production of Argentinean director Francisco Joaquín Paparella, who commented that the story focuses on a rural worker in Patagonia who suffers an existential crisis due to the series of femicides that occurred in his town.

Also, Peter Grönlund's debut feature, Drifters (Sweden, 2015), will be presented, representing the impetus of a character pushed to the limits of urban life.

Max Zunino, in his second participation in Talento Emergente, arrives with Bruma (Mexico-Germany, 2017), a feature film in which a young woman tries to find her own identity.

The movie’s main character, actress Sofia Espinosa, pointed out that her character is a woman who goes to Berlin fleeing from her reality when she discovers that she is pregnant and does not know what to do.

On the other hand, the Greek filmmaker Argyris Papadimitropoulos presents Suntan (Greece-Germany, 2016), the profile of a character in the process of accepting adulthood. While the scars left by the era of terrorism in Peru are addressed in La última tarde, (Peru-Colombia, 2016) by Joel Calero.

The Australian-Vanuatu co-production will show Tanna, directed by Martin Butler and Bentley Dean, a portrait of the Melanesian community. And from South Africa, The Wound by John Trengove who emphasizes the ritual that defines masculinities in Africa today.

The portrait of the last minute of female childhood is in Alba, (Ecuador-Mexico-Greece, Ecuador, 2016) by Ana Cristina Barragán; from the United States, Short Stay by Ted Fendt and the Guatemala-Mexico co-production will show The biggest house in the world.

To close the third edition, the following will be showed: Jeune femme (France-Belgium, 2017), by Léonor Serraille; The desert bride (Argentina-Chile, 2017), directed by Cecilia Atán and Valeria Pivato, and finally, Someone to talk to by Chinese director Yulin Liu, who will be in Mexico to present this movie in which she addresses the common mistake in modern couples and in the urban population.

From September 15 to September 22 there will be a pre-sale at the box office from 11:00 to 21:00 hours. Promotion for students under 25, teachers and INAPAM: 14 tickets (one for each film) for $336. (20 % discount). General public: 14 tickets (one for each movie) for $560. (20 % discount).
