As part of the promotion of her seventh album, Black & White, independent singer and songwriter Elis Paprika toured several cities in the country and now will take her country rock proposal to the United States, Canada and even Korea.

In an interview with the Department of Culture's Independent Coordinator, the Jalisco singer highlighted that during her Mexican tour, she visited cities such as Toluca, Guadalajara, Morelia, León, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Texcoco, Pachuca, Oaxaca, Puebla and Cuernavaca, as well as Mexico City.

The Guadalajara native singer highlighted that this album Black & White, made up of two extended plays, tells the story of Elis Paprika in the musical sense, even with the original members and includes a mixture of folk, country, pop and rock and roll.

With 13 years of career and three performances at the Festival Vive Latino, Elis Paprika said that being independent does not mean being amateur, because there are high quality proposals that, the independents live from the need to generate their own spaces, so the key is the self-management.

In this sense, the singer who participated in the Tribute to Juan Gabriel with the theme Hasta que te conocí (Until I met you), to which she gave her country's stamp, she recalled that one of her most important projects is Now Girls Rule!, a movement that supports the empowerment of women, especially in the musical field.

And although there are currently many women who make high quality music with interesting proposals, more than 90% of the festivals are centralized by men, she said.

In order to open up new spaces for women's bands, Elis Paprika noted that she started the nights of Now Girls Rule! where consolidated groups already shared the stage with emerging groups so that their fans could get to know the new projects.

However, she said, she realized that this was not enough and that a change of perspective is needed from childhood, so she now runs camps for girls from the age of eight, where they participate in a wide variety of workshops given by women as well, showing that they can work and be successful in the field of their choice.

She invited the young people who have artistic concerns to dare to carry them out, because the only way to realize them is to lose the fear of making mistakes, and she considered that it´s ok to fail, since from there a training can derive to live life by doing what you like best, she said.
