May 30, 2016

The stars of the Russian ballet, gathered for the first time in Mexico in the same show, will offer only two presentations in Leon, Guanajuato, and Mexico City, with the selection of seven pieces that make up the gala program The Tsars of Ballet .

Some members of the leading Russian dance groups of the highest level, from the Mariinsky, Mikhailovsky, Stanislavsky and Bolshoi theaters, will gather at the Manuel Doblado Theater on June 8th at 20:00 in Leon, Guanajuato, Oxana Kordiaca, general coordinator of The Tsars of Ballet show informed.

“We joined forces together with the Institute of Culture of Guanajuato to bring big stars, as Yulia Makhalina, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre, considered the goddess of classical ballet worldwide”, Kordiaca said.

Anastasia Lomachenkova, soloist; Alexander Volckov, from the Bolshoi, and Mikhail Venchikok, member of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, constitute the world class stars group who first will meet in Mexico in a unique show, because of the difficulty to match dates for dancers of this standing. Remember that they are on stage or in rehearsals throughout the year, she pointed out.

“The reason for being here is that we know that Mexico is a cultural country that likes to see the best shows. Several dancers have already been in the Palace of Fine Arts, but not together as today”, she declared.

It is important to note that the tradition of ballet in Russia comes from the time of the Tsars, reaching its fullness in the Soviet Union period. Currently, you start to practice ballet from the age of six, then you enter the Institute of Ballet, where there is eight years of practice; at the end, the directors of the most important theaters in Russia apply a test to select the most outstanding dancers and integrate them into their groups in order to begin a professional career.

The presentation is comprised of very selected pieces like Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Petrushka and others, such as The Dying Swan.  This is a great gala for the Mexican public, she said.

The presentations are on June 7th at 20:00 h in the Metropolitan Theather of Mexico City; on June 8th, at 20:00 in the Manuel Doblado Theather of Leon, Guanajuato, she said.

The tour will continue in Colombia, then, each dancer will return to their activities in their respective groups, she concluded.
