From April 15th to 24th at Ciudad Obregon and Hermosillo, Sonora

Brazil, Canada and Ireland will participate in the international exhibition Un desierto para la danza

In order to show the choreographic diversity of contemporary dancing companies, the 24th edition of the International Exhibition Un desierto para la danza (A desert for dance) will be hold.

 So was announced by René Flores Rivera, coordinator of festivals from Instituto Sonorense de Cultura (Sonorense Institute of Culture), who added that this is an event that works as a platform to discuss and reflect on the events of national and international contemporary dance.

 So it is an event where important and recognized proposals with greatest significance in this area will be presented, he said.

 Un desierto para la danza (A Desert for Dance) will be hold from April 15th to 24th at Hermosillo and from April 15th to 17th at Ciudad Obregon. Ten groups from Brazil, Canada, Ireland and Mexico, who will offer 12 performances will participate.

 According to René Flores, among the outstanding works that can be seen there is one by Alicia Sanchez Saga, El robot actuante (The acting robot), a proposal made in co-production by El Teatro del Movimiento, el Posgrado de Diseño Industrial de la UNAM (Postgraduate of Industrial Design of UNAM) and Bioscénica

It's a very interesting work for the whole family, because it uses a nano robot on stage. It tells the story of a seven year old boy, Daniel, lost in a world of video games and the robot, which has artificial intelligence, rescues him".

The festival coordinator added that the company Kaeja d'Dance (Canada) will present two works: .0 and Touch, "the latter is a journey, search and exploration of the emotional, while .0 will be an exercise of improvisation."

 Within the Mexican works to be presented at the gathering is Habitat, by Rolando Beattie, who explores uncomfortable feelings for the human being, like the craving, the liberation and the guilt.

 In addition to Physical Momentum Project & Proyecto Ítaca by Francisco Cordova and Beto Pérez, who meet to perform Conatus, a solos piece composed of multiple images of man. La Manga Video y Danza with the piece, Always, also will be presented "a very interesting proposal, because it develops from an exploration with breathing, its control, the apnea and how far you can get to experiment with it”, Flores said.

 Antares Danza Contemporánea company will host this exhibition presenting Desatados (Untied), which tells a chance meeting between people who talk about ordinary relationships and life.

While the Quiatora Monorail company will release the work, Puedes encontrarme en Hawaii, (You can find me in Hawaii) at Hermosillo, a choreographic essay that talks and explores with the body and time.

 In the context of these presentations a series of parallel activities will be also hold, including: Classical dance workshop. Ballet scene, taught by Guillermo Maldonado and the workshop Body-action. Motion-Relation. Physical action as stage building taught by Francisco Córdova.

There is also El cuerpo reflexixo (The reflective body), by Beto Pérez, and a special workshop for filmmakers and visual artists of Hermosillo: An intensive day of lab-dance video taught by specialist Phillip Szporer (Canada)”, the coordinator said.

Finally, he revealed that the Mexican set designer, professor and academic Alejandro Luna will give a lecture and inaugurate his exhibition, 5 décadas de teatro (Five decades of theather) made up of photographs of his stage designs produced during these years of work.
