La Huasteca will be present at the Festival "Moscow Meets Friends" in Russia

Sones (songs) and huastecos huapangos (folk dance from La Huatesca region) will sound in Russia since Mexico will be present at the 13th Festival “Moscow Meets Friends” to be held from May 24th to 29th in Moscow through a great huasteco ensemble that will represent our country and show the cultural richness of this region worldwide.

 After a hearing conducted by the National System of Musical Promotion during the XIX Festival of La Huasteca, held last year in Xilitla, the trios La nueva herencia, Tamaulipas;  Alondras huastecas , San Luis Potosi, and Tradición Serrana, Puebla, were selected to participate in the Russian gathering.

 Libertad García Cabriales, general director of Tamaulipas Institute for Culture and Arts, said that "we are happy and proud" of Huasteca’s presence will have, because "the Huasteca music represents an identity for us, represents one of the bravest, most natural and culturally most significant region to Tamaulipas. "

She celebrated that the trio La nueva herencia, formed by Natalia Alejandra Ramírez Juárez, in the violin; Camila Jacqueline Ramírez Juárez, in the fifth, and Kimberly América Santillana Alfaro, in the jarana, has been chosen to represent Tamaulipas in the “Moscow Meet Friends”.

 And as she said, it is a recognized festival, organized by the International Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, with the direct participation of the Moscow government and the Department of Culture of the Russian city, as well as international organizations such as UNESCO.

 The members of La Nueva Herencia, are not improvised, their parents have defended the huapango (folk dance) and have made their daughters to be bearers of that culture, Libertad García said.

 Now they will travel to Russia to be part of a large ensemble and to be presented in the main concert halls in Moscow, “a culture that is remote, but with the universal language of music our people come together and these girls come to Moscow, with support from the Ministry of Culture, which I am very grateful on behalf of Tamaulipas”.

 The ensemble will represent Mexico and show the great cultural richness of La Huasteca to everyone through song and dance that takes place in this important region of the country, with a brief participation in the inaugural event of the festival and two concerts lasting approximately 40 minutes each.

"We like to get to Moscow with La Huasteca there. Thinking of Moscow is cold, distant, but you realize that it is culture that makes possible the rapprochement, the warmth, knowing that we are all brothers, recognizing the universality of culture, especially in building peace", the director of the Tamaulipas Institute for Culture and Arts said.

 The Festival “Moscow Meets Friends” is intended to provide both children and young people with artistic talent from around the world, the opportunity to perform in the main concert halls in Moscow, thus strengthening the links and cultural enrichment of all participating countries.
